UPDATE: Heartbreaking isolation

On second thought … April 15, 2011
I spoke with my one of my besties and she agreed to come with me to the wedding. God convicted me for thinking only of myself. What about Him? How can he use me in my family if I don’t show up? Of course, my answer is He can do whatever he wants with or without me.

So I called my aunt today and we spoke at length. She wanted to call my family and lay down ground rules. I told her that was unnecessary. I would police myself and the kids, and set ground rules with them. My girlfriend would be an extra set of eyes on my parents and keep me occupied.

My aunt also stated she would be able to seat us on polar opposite sides of the reception room, as I requested.

God has given me a backbone and tons of strength. Apparently, He doesn’t want to waste his investment. My family will observe firsthand God’s grace, wisdom, revelation and mercy through me. They might not know it yet, but God has a plan for them. I want nothing to do with it but God has a different idea. I’ll be keeping my mouth shut and my eyes wide open.

Please pray for us.

Boricua Confidential chronicles my new life as a single mom of two kids after my husband died from cancer on our son’s seventh birthday. Join me on this journey of change, revival, reformation, discovery and new direction ordered of God. Being a widow ain’t easy, that’s for sure. I refuse to rollover and die. Quite the contrary. I intend to thrive from this crazy life. You can’t keep this woman down. If I’m down, I won’t be for long.

God created me to bounce back. Watch me.
