Day 3: Doggies

Day 3: Doggies

31 Days of Gratitude
Join me as I celebrate all I have to be thankful for during the month of October. Why October instead of November? One more day! Enjoy and be blessed.

I have two of the cutest dogs in Silicon Valley. These flea bags with tails wagging and lots of sloppy wet kisses melt my heart no matter my mood.

So let’s start with Plankton, my fave.

I rescued him from Animal Control in 2008. Two Chihuahuas were placed into the play area for us to observe. One barely moved while the other, tail high in air in full alpha mode, was running around hiking up a leg tagging everything in sight. I wanted the amazing marking dog.

He was a pain in the butt to house train but he is definitely a lap dog. In fact, his favorite perch is on my shoulders claiming the highest place so as to rule and reign in the Jungle of My Place. I love it when he burrows his head into my stomach and licks my fingers to death.

And then there’s my favorite box of rocks, Sandy.

On my way home from swim team practice I notice a “Free Puppies” sign and just had to stop. Yes, I had a dog but I’m just looking. I ask which is the runt of the litter and they hand me this absolutely adorable puppy with white socks and a beautiful shock of white on the back of its neck. As soon as she’s in my arms, she starts climbing up my arm and around my neck. There was no way I would leave that dog behind. Besides, she was free. Plankton cost me $200.

I took her home after stopping by the pet shop to get a collar and tags. Sandy is the neediest of the two. She’s ALWAYS in my face begging to jump on my lap so I can rub her tummy or just let her pass out on top of me.

These two were purposely named after the SpongeBob SquarePants characters because, well, why the heck not. The kids love them and they have a calming effect on all of us. Love these two pooches.
