Day 1, High Tech

31 Days of Gratitude
Join me as I celebrate all I have to be thankful for during the month of October. Why October instead of November? One more day! Enjoy and be blessed.

My father first turned me on to technology at a very young age. I remember him showing me my very first hard disk drive. It must have weighed 30 lbs. and it was humongous.

Today, I am my father’s child. I love technology. I am very tech savvy. I have debated whether this is a good or bad thing. Some friends have just enough skill to get their job done and no more. They aren’t the slightest bit curious about back doors, shortcuts or speed tweaks.

The Silicon Valley advantage or scourge?
I love living in Silicon Valley. I live a stone’s throw from some of the biggest names in high-technology. I’ve met CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and love that I can have an intelligent conversation about the internet, gadgets and apps with most people.

The only hitch in my giddap? Black holes. Allow me to paint a picture.

I’m minding my own business streaming live TV, usually MSNBC, while cruising down the freeway. I get off and suddenly it happens. The endless circle of doom. Either I just entered or am in a black hole. There is zero coverage. *dramatic music here*

That’s right. I’m at a school and can see Apple Headquarters yet I’m only scoring 1x cell coverage. To be fair, either it’s primetime and everyone’s making the same demand on limited bandwidth like at a pro sporting event or it’s a coverage hole. I’m spoiled.

Thank you God for technology and getting to live in the heart of it all.
