Day 9: Lawyers

Day 9: Lawyers

31 Days of God-related attitude
We all know at least one lawyer joke. I’m willing to bet most of us know quite a few. My favorite: What do you call several lawyers on the bottom of the ocean? A good start. However, given the problems that have crossed my plate, I’ve had to hire more than a few and with only one exception, they were excellent.

Without my lawyers I likely would have

  • Lost custody of my daughter;
  • Been unable to conserve my daughter;
  • Lost the case versus my daughter’s school district and county mental health in Federal appeals court;
  • Not been able to win a social security appeal on behalf of my daughter;
  • Not been able to file bankruptcy properly; and
  • Lost my home in foreclosure.

Boricua ConfidentialI’m sure there are other reasons but those are the big Kahunas. Not only are they great at what they do they also are nice people. The lawyer who helped my daughter win her court case agains the school district and county mental health was very generous with me about payments and my payment schedule.

Now he is having cash flow problems hence unable to pay me the final settlement check. I am only too glad to extend him the same grace and mercy he afforded me when I needed it most. I’ve waited over 18 months and, frankly, I can wait a little longer.

What are you thankful for today?
