Day 3: Prayer room

Day 3: Prayer room

31 Days of God-related attitude
I am grateful for a local House of Prayer whose goal is 24/7 prayer, praise and worship. They are modeled after the International House of Prayer (IHOP-KC) based in Kansas City, MO, that has been doing this for over 13 years.

When I first started coming it was Sundays only. Who had time to come during the week? Besides, isn’t once a week the norm? I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I knew it was time to move from my mega church to a much smaller fellowship but this small?

The message was always good and the praise team was off the hook. Something was still missing. I went out for coffee with the pastor’s wife who suggested I come during the week. I probably looked at her like she was a one-eyed cyclops.

Then one day poop hit the fan and I got my marching orders from Him to get there every day. I thought God was nuts. All that gas for what? I did it for 30 days to see if I liked it.

The peace that came over me was overwhelming and welcome. It made facing my difficulties more manageable. Suddenly, I was full of hope instead of gloom, despair, fear and doubt. Being obedient was the best decision I ever made. Thanks for that wonderful suggestion Wendi.

What are you thankful for today?

Others blogging a 31-day series for October:

Boricua Confidential chronicles my new life as a single mom of two kids after my husband died from cancer on our son’s seventh birthday. Join me on this journey of change, revival, reformation, discovery and new direction ordered of God. Being a widow ain’t easy, that’s for sure. I refuse to rollover and die. Quite the contrary. I intend to thrive from this crazy life. You can’t keep this woman down. If I’m down, I won’t be for long.

God created me to bounce back. Watch me.

  1. OMG! Totally true! I don’t know what I would do without having some place to go between Sundays. I love doing the devo set with Wilson Friday mornings. I nearly cried last week when he didn’t show. God is so good.

  2. I am so thankful for the Prayer Room. What did we ever do without it?
