Day 27: Think positive

Day 27: Think positive

Forgiveness accentuates the positive. It frees up my mind from negative doldrums. When forgiveness happens, a shift takes place and possibilities become endless.

One of my very first refrigerator magnets is titled, “Think Positive.” I bought it because when I was a “Girl Friday” or temporary worker I needed the constant reminder, encouragement after my first of many lay-offs.

When it finally appeared I would have a permanent job, it fell through because the company lost a major military contract. I was hysterical, sobbing to my father that I’d lose my apartment, my car would be repossessed and my credit would take major hits.

His words fueled my ability to believe I’ll always get work. He informed me there would be plenty of work in Silicon Valley for people like me. He encouraged me to get out there and apply at more temp agencies.

I did what he suggested and never looked back. I registered with 11 agencies. As soon as I found out one assignment was ending, I began calling all my agencies. Before I got half way through my list I had another job.

As it turned out, I got a job with the company that won the military contract.

“Think Positive
If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you don’t.
Success begins with your own will.
It’s all in your state of mind.
Life’s battles are not always won
By those who are stronger or faster;
Sooner or later the person who wins
Is the person who thinks she can!”

Points to ponder
Where are you allowing hopelessness to live? When do you find yourself thinking negatively? What can you do to turn it around?
